We stand with ALL survivors

**Note: the following contains discussions of sexual violence**

NYLAG is fighting for survivors—of sexual harassment at work, of forced marriage in one’s country of origin, of sexual assault in the U.S. military, and many others.

Sexual violence is too often part of our clients’ stories. That’s why our lawyers stand with all survivors, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, in their pursuit of safety and justice.

Here are just a few of the ways we work with survivors:

Many asylum seekers in the U.S. are survivors of sexual assault fleeing Central America, where few meaningful protections against sexual violence exist—for instance, in Honduras, the impunity rate for sexual violence is more than 90%. NYLAG helps survivors of sexual assault gain asylum so that they can remain safely in the U.S.

The #MeToo movement brought the crisis of sexual abuse in the workplace to the national spotlight. NYLAG was one of the first organizations to receive TIMES UP funding from the National Women’s Law Center to represent low-wage workers who were sexually harassed.

Sexual violence is often a tactic used by abusers against their partners. We work with survivors of intimate partner violence to obtain orders of protection, custody of children, and other remedies through family court.

Our legal services can help survivors find safety and stability.
