How Can We End Poverty?

Poverty Ends Where Justice Begins.

Ending poverty requires access to justice. That’s why NYLAG is taking on a 4-prong approach to combat poverty. We are addressing individual and family crises for those experiencing poverty; strengthening efforts to challenge systemic barriers; prioritizing race equity, diversity, and inclusion; and putting our clients’ needs and voices at the forefront.

30 Years of Fighting for Fair & Equal Access to Justice

NYLAG (New York Legal Assistance Group) was created in 1990 as an anti-poverty organization to assist not only those experiencing poverty but fill the gap for those whose income exceeded federal poverty guidelines but who were still unable to afford an attorney. What started as a grassroots organization with one full-time attorney has grown into a leading non-profit. Our efforts have a profound impact on the lives of individuals and families experiencing poverty.
