NYLAG’s Removal Defense Project provides representation for immigrants placed into removal (deportation) proceedings before judges in immigration court.

Many individuals placed into removal proceedings have a legal basis to remain in the country as family members of US citizens, battered spouses, or asylees. However, the immigration system is incredibly complex and difficult to navigate alone. The stakes are high. Deportees will be separated from their families with few chances to return. If they seek asylum, they risk being tortured and killed in their home country. It is only with experienced and knowledgeable representation that these individuals can remain safely in the United States.

The Removal Defense Project provides comprehensive representation to ensure that eligible individuals have the opportunity to remain safely in the United States.
