Sara Anoushirvani Joshi is a Staff Attorney in the Immigrant Protection Unit. Sara represents clients in a variety of immigration matters including asylum, removal defense litigation, family-based petitions, adjustment of status, temporary protected status, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) self-petitions, U visa petitions, and naturalization. Prior to joining NYLAG, Sara practiced as an attorney at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP. She received her J.D., cum laude, and Certificate in International Law, from Pace Law School, where she also served as an Editor of the Pace International Law Review and received an Excellence in Clinical Education award. During law school, Sara interned at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague. Sara earned her B.A. from the University of Oregon and LL.M., with Merit (Honors), and Certificate in Public International Law and Human Rights, from University College London. Sara is an active member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She is admitted to practice in New York.
