Marissa is situated in Queens and Richmond County Civil Court to oversee the Consumer Debt, Volunteer Lawyer for the Day (VLFD) program, an innovative project designed to increase pro se litigants’ access to justice. Through VLFD, she supervises volunteer attorneys and students defending vulnerable New Yorkers in collection actions involving private student loans, auto loans, medical and credit card debt. Prior to joining NYLAG, Marissa defended doctors and hospitals in complex medical malpractice litigation. Marissa has also interned at numerous government and non-profit organizations, including the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, ASPCA, South Royalton Legal Clinic, and Franklin County State’s Attorney Office. Marissa received her J.D. cum laude from Vermont Law School and B.A. magna cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh.
