Karen works with the Brooklyn team of attorneys in assisting low income clients facing eviction proceedings. She is responsible for conducting intakes, advocating on behalf of clients and providing translation assistance with Spanish speaking clients. In addition, as a case handler, Karen is able to represent tenants in administrative proceedings. Prior to joining NYLAG, she was a judicial intern for Honorable Carmen Velasquez, New York State Supreme Court judge. She also worked with CUNY Citizenship Now as a legal intern, assisting New Yorkers with confidential information on immigration law procedures. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, with a minor in gender studies.
