Aaron is the Acting Director of the Storm Response Unit and has been working on Sandy recovery and long-term flood risk resiliency issues with the Storm Response Unit since January 2013. Aaron has spent several of the years since Sandy struck traveling to communities across New York City and Long Island with the NYLAG Mobile Legal Help Center, providing disaster survivors with immediate access to legal services in their neighborhoods. Over the last six years Aaron has worked on virtually all of the recovery issues disaster survivors face, including issues with FEMA benefits and SBA loans, eligibility and benefit-calculation problems with programs funded by HUD Community Development Block Grants, flood insurance and homeowner’s insurance claims, contract disputes and contractor fraud issues, and floodplain management and building code issues for homeowners. In addition to providing training and assistance for specific communities recovering from disasters, Aaron is a member of the Legal Services Corporation’s Disaster Task Force and a co-author of “Natural Disasters, Access to Justice, and Legal Services” (CUNY Law Review, 2013). He is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and Fordham University School of Law.
