Testimony before the NYC Council Committees on Justice System and Public Safety regarding: Preliminary Budget Hearing – Justice System & Public Safety

March, 12, 2018

NYLAG President and Attorney-in-Charge Beth Goldman testified before the Justice System and Public Safety Committees of the New York City Council. She applauded the City for its increased investment in legal services over the last several years, but spoke of the need to do even more as the federal government takes steps to weaken essential safety net programs for the poor. She pointed to a number of under-served populations where funding remains inadequate to meet the need for legal services, including low-wage workers, children with special education needs, seniors, students, residents of homeless shelters and veterans.
