Testimony before the NYC Council Committee on Courts & Legal Services regarding:
Examining Low-Wage Workers and Legal Services Needs

Some employers believe that they can get away with discriminating against low-wage workers because they will not know or be able to assert their rights, and because for-profit employment lawyers are out of reach for them.  NYLAG attorneys aims to fill the gap in services to ensure that income is not a barrier to victims seeking compensation for lost wages, emotional distress, and other relief.  In this testimony NYLAG joins with other legal services providers in  enthusiastically supporting increased funding in New York City for this important work.
