Lance Armstrong Foundation Honors LegalHealth with Prestigious E. Lee Walker Award
The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) presented the E. Lee Walker Imagination Award to NYLAG’s LegalHealth Unit in recognition of its nationally significant work to improve the quality of life, access to healthcare, and financial situations of vulnerable cancer patients. The award acknowledges LegalHealth for developing a national network of legal service providers for individuals with cancer as well as providing direct legal services to lowincome cancer victims.
“We are honored to be a recipient of the E. Lee Walker Award and look forward to continuing our collaboration with the Lance Armstrong Foundation to educate and empower people affected by cancer,” said Randye Retkin, Director of LegalHealth. “With the Foundation’s help, this program has the potential to enrich the national cancer survivorship movement by creating a community through which the unmet legal needs of people with cancer are met with the best possible solutions and care,” Retkin explained.
The E. Lee Walker Award was designed to recognize innovation in cancer survivorship-related programs and research. The award is named in honor of the former Chairman of the LAF Board of Directors. Along with the award comes a one-time $10,000 supplement to LegalHealth’s current Community Program grant from the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
