Anna is a 90-year-old Holocaust survivor whose gambling-addicted son was spending her limited income. She and her daughter came to NYLAG for help.

NYLAG attorneys drafted the necessary forms to enable Anna’s daughter to monitor and protect her finances. NYLAG also helped inform Anna’s bank, credit agencies, the Claims Conference, and her landlord that her daughter was the sole authorized agent. In addition, NYLAG drafted and registered a Health Care Proxy form so that Anna could specify that only her daughter was authorized to make health care decisions on her behalf. To prevent further elder abuse, NYLAG counseled Anna on how to obtain an Order of Protection against her son and provided information on how to report abusive incidents to the proper authorities.
