NYLAG provides legal assistance to Yemeni Jewish refugees who resettled in New York State after their arrival in the United States from July to October of 2009.
Because of the refugees’ unique needs, NYLAG offers a range of tailored services. Working in cooperation with FEGS, refugees receive help in obtaining life-sustaining public benefits, especially Supplemental Security Income benefits for the elderly and disabled. In addition, NYLAG prepares and files applications to help refugees attain legal permanent resident status. Translation assistance is also available in the Yemeni native languages: Arabic, Hebrew and Aramaic.
