GENERAL LEGAL SERVICES

NYLAG’s services touch the lives of people from all walks of life. Our experienced group of attorneys, paralegals and volunteer case handlers secure entitlements including food stamps, home care, Medicaid, SSI and other vital government support services for eligible, low income individuals. We are dedicated to ensuring that people have access to the services and benefits needed for life-changing events such as the transition from welfare to work. GLS also works to ensure that the individuals receive their rights in the workplace. NYLAG's Justice at Work Project provides representation in cases involving wage and hour issues (overtime, unpaid wages, minimum wage claims), as well as a broad range of other employment law issues. NYLAG’s Foreclosure Prevention Project provides legal representation and court-based services for borrowers with subprime and unconventional mortgages facing foreclosure.
