NYLAG has joined 25 other consumer, civil rights and community groups in writing to Acting Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) , Mick Mulvaney. We are asking that the CFPB give our organizations more time to provide input on any potential changes to regulations that provide important consumer protections in a wide variety of areas spanning the breadth of the consumer financial products and services within the CFPB’s jurisdiction. The underlying statutes were each adopted to address problems in the financial marketplace impacting consumers. Consequently, it is critical to get robust and thoughtful input from and on behalf of the consumer public about how and whether these regulations should be changed or improved.
