Rita McLennon
In October of 2007 Rita McLennon joined NYLAG as Director of Development. She has an extensive background in designing and implementing development programs for a variety of legal and other non-profit organizations. Before coming to NYLAG, Ms. McLennon served for fourteen years as Executive Director of the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law, a nonprofit organization that promotes social and economic justice through policy development, advocacy, research and communication. Ms. McLennon’s leadership was instrumental in building the Shriver Center into a strong national resource center for the poverty law community, policymakers and other advocates of low-income people. Ms. McLennon has also served as Director of Development for the Chicago Park District, the National Center for Youth Law and the Legal Assistance Foundation of Chicago.
